Georgia’s WIN List Joins Women In Numbers Filing to Run in 2020

April 5, 2019 – A group of Democratic women and their supporters will gather on the South Steps of Georgia’s Capitol on Friday, April 5th, 2019 at 1:00 PM to declare their intentions to run for legislative seats in 2020. They will be announcing their plans to run against Republicans who voted in favor of HB 481, the six-week abortion ban.

While some women already have campaign paperwork in place, others among the 2020 candidates will be filing the necessary Ethics Commission paperwork to establish candidate committees and formally begin fundraising efforts immediately prior to the press conference.

Senator Jen Jordan, whose heart-wrenching speech opposing the abortion ban went viral, will lead off the press conference. Her pledge, “The women of this state will reclaim their rights … after they have claimed your seats,” is now being offered on a commercially available t-shirt.

The candidates will be available for individual interviews following the press conference.

SCHEDULE:
Friday, April 5th, 2019

  • 12:00 PM – Candidates who have not yet filed will assemble in the Ethics Commission office to file their paperwork.
  • 1:00 PM – Press conference on the south interior marble steps of Georgia’s Capitol.
  • 1:30 PM – Press conference concludes. Candidates will be available for interviews.
